Experience beautiful Andalusia in winter or spring especially in March or April

Winter and spring are most beautiful times of the year to visit this area, esp. if pool and sea are not the
main criteria of your holiday.
In November the light starts changing, the colours are extremely beautiful and everything seems even
quieter and more peaceful. The vegation starts to recover from the summer heat and you just want to be
outdoors! Late autumn, winter and spring are the perfect time for shorter or longer hikes.
Please see more details about hikes under: Hiking in the Alpujarra and visitng Pamapneira, Bubion
and Capileira

During that time it can and should rain, but not like in Northern Europe, if it does rain , it hardly ever lasts
more than half a day and afterwards everything is shining and it smells beautifully!
That ́s when you see the locals down in their fields collecting snails, a local and very rare (since it hardly
ever rains!) speciality.
In our holidayrental in Andalucia La Cueva, the pool is heated with solar panels, which extends the pool
season and in normal years you can use the pool up until November and start again some time in May.
The other two holiday rentals in Orgiva have heatable pools (extra charge applies) and if we know in
advance we can heat the water up for you – except for the months of Dec,Jan and Feb, when it is too cold
during the nights for the pool to reach the required 26oC.

All our rentals have glass fronted wood burners (we provide firewood – extra charge), even here we
snuggle up in front of the fire at night, wonderful! The holiday rentals in Orgiva El Garzopo and La
Rueda also have central heating.
You will have the whole area for yourselves, walk along the beaches without hardly anyone around, park
where ever it suits you and no need to wait long in any restaurant!
Make a trip up into the skifields of the Sierra Nevada and even if it ́s only to enjoy the snow and the
winter atmosphere.
For us the two most enjoyed months of the year are March and April, when the vegetation starts coming
back to life, the birds are busy singing and building nests and the colours and smells are incredible.

All the citrus fruit trees are in bloom and the whole valley/area carries that sweet scent, especially at
nights, absolutely magic. When the orange blossoms are coming to an end, the jasmins take over!
A very popular infusion (herbal tea) is azahar, dried orange blossom.
The oranges are starting to be ripe in December and last until June – fresh orange juice every day, what
more could you ask for? Also in December the olive harvest starts, watch the neighbours spreading out
the green tarpolings and hitting the trees to make the olives drop – esp. around X ́mas all the family
comes to visit and helps with the harvest a very joyful and happy time of year. Maybe you would like to
help?
