Often reality differs from ones ́ plans and ideas, we thought to finish everything by spring 2006 and put
that into the different booking platforms! Luckily no bookings came then …everything took MUCH
longer and at the end we worked nearly day and night!
All the decorationworks and the painting we did ourselves, although we had really good workmen, all
these little fiddley jobs, that require a good deal of patience, are not their strength!
Many of our new neightbours came to congratulate us on the outcome of this big project. Many knew the
house from their childhood days, when they played here as children. One neighbour though thought it all
to be very ugly!! Mainly because we used many materials from days gone by – that reminded him/them of
these very difficult, sad and hard years, of deprivations and war, with which they try to break now.
Our first guests arrived on the 8th of July 2006 in El Sol. Naomi was still finishing the cleaning while I
showed the guests around. In La Estrella the guests arrived the next day, on the 9th of July!
Finished!! Only now we realized just how tired and worn out we were!!
In May 2007 we got a phone call from the local TV station, asking if they could come to film the house!
They invited us, together with a whole group of neighbours from all 3 villages of the valley, to the film
studios in Malaga to a live breakfast show, where they presented the valley of Los Guajares. A lovely
compliment!
